Clubharie's Baumkuchen

Known for its Clubharie's Baumkuchen, Taneya is one of Shiga Prefecture's leading confectioners, with stores in the Kansai and Tokyo areas. However, its name does not conjure up images of Shiga Prefecture, and so far it is not well known as a confectionary in Shiga Prefecture. But since there are not many famous foods in Shiga Prefecture, I thought I'd take this Baumkuchen and make it a souvenir of Shiga Prefecture.

Incidentally, the location of this maker is Omihachiman City. It's located on the east shore of Lake Biwa in central Shiga Prefecture, and it's a town famous for the Omi merchants and the water town.

When I took out of the box, I divided the round Baumkuchen into smaller pieces: yes, it's quite thick. And the smell is sweet, like ice cream, like sponge cake. I tried it, and wow, it was very elegant and very tasty. Because it's refrigerated, it's cold, and that's a good feeling again. I see, it's a bit different from the Baumkuchen I've been eating, and exudes a bit of a different flavor. Oh, yeah, there's a white sugar peel around the outside.

Well, it's thicker and the sugar part is farther away, so some people may feel it's not as light as it should be. Also, as you can see, the color of the striped striped is pale, so there is not much of the scorchy part, which is the source of the savory flavor.
