Shiga Prefecture exists around Lake Biwa, the land of the Kansai region. But it's a province without a sea. The prefectural capital is Otsu City, which is located in the south, next to Kyoto City. The land of the Omi merchants.

Their specialties are Omi beef and makuwa-uri, including Funa-zushi (Carassius spp. sushi related to Lake Biwa). Sweets have been around for a long time, such as "Dechi Yokan".

Attractions include Lake Biwa, Hikone Castle, Miho Museum, Koga-no-Sato/Ninjutsu-Mura, Hieizan and Enryakuji Temple.
