Oita Prefecture is located in the eastern part of Kyushu. Along with Shikoku, it faces the Bungo Channel. The prefectural capital is Oita City.
Its specialties are the local kabosu, Seki mackerel, Seki horse mackerel, and the daily necessities, the yuzu pepper of the fundokin.
For sightseeing, Beppu is especially famous for its hot springs, which are the best in Japan for many things, including a tour of hell. You can also visit Yufu-dake, the monkey paradise of Takasakiyama, Kokonoe-dake, and the Kokonoe-Yume Suspension Bridge and others.
