Kegani, Kurigani, and Toge-Kurigani are the three kinds of "Kurigani" friends.

Toge-Kurigani is mainly caught in Mutsu Bay in Aomori Prefecture and is also called Sakura-crab during the spring fishing season.


Needless to say, Hokkaido's specialty is the crab. There are red king crab, snow crab, and Kegani, but among them, red king crab and Kegani are the representative of Hokkaido.

So, I have no shortage of memories of the crabs in Hokkaido, where I have traveled several times in the past.

A good memory is the all-you-can-eat-crab restaurant I went to in Sapporo. It came out on a big plate with one pie of Kegani, so much snow crab, and a lot of king crab on it. After eating Kegani, snow crab and king crab, we were so full that we didn't even want to look at the crabs. Of course, I couldn't eat all of it, and I couldn't eat any more.

Also, the quality of the crabs varies unexpectedly from good to bad, with some crabs being full, some being scrappy, some being good and some being bad. Well, it's good if it's worth the price, but there are cases where it's not, so you need to be careful. ...Be careful of the backstreet tourist shops and other places where you are taken on cheap tours. No, let's not do that.

By the way, it goes without saying that the taste of Kegani is delicious, as you know. Kegani is different from other crabs in that it has a unique flavor and sweetness as well as its shape. And again, that crab miso is not to be missed. The drawback is that the amount of crab meat is small and the thorns are painful. So, if you don't cut it properly in advance, you'll get hurt.

And this time, I added it to the miso soup, but it was only a small amount of miso soup, so the soup was too thick, and it was quite ugly. But when you eat it with the crab meat, it's still delicious. But when I touch Kegani with my wet hands, it hurts so much that it's annoying. Mmm, the texture is heaven, the feel is hell.
