Yamagata Prefecture is located in the northeastern part of Japan, facing the Sea of Japan. The prefectural capital is inland Yamagata City. The county tree is a cherry and the county flower is a safflower.
Their specialties include Yamagata's rural soba noodles, Yonezawa beef, cherries, Lafrance, Dadacha beans, lotus root, and Shonai persimmons.
