In 2010, I saw an article about the winner of the Japanese confectioner's summit battle on TV Tokyo "TV Champion R" (I didn't watch TV). The winner, "Izumiya III, the owner of the shop, is an eccentric person who is also a wagashi craftsman who belongs to an entertainment production. Well, I don't know how to take it...

The Izumiya is located in Yokosuka, and the top of the list is a Yokosuka confectionery called Yokosuka-Yaki, so I had no choice but to try it out.

The crescent-shaped "Yokosuka-Yaki" (actually, it seems to be in the shape of a ship), both in size and atmosphere, smells like Dora-yaki. When I cut it in half, it looks like there is a muzu-an inside and a gyuhi (rice cake) in the center. When I tried it, it was just the right amount of sweetness, and the gyuhi kept the azuki beans in check. As for the rest, roughly speaking, I guess it's an extension of the Dora-yaki as expected.

Well, it's not an impactful one, but a nicely put together and delicious treat. I think it's the kind of candy that every Yorkshireman would want to have as a souvenir.

There are two kinds of Yokosuka-Yaki, one with white bean jam inside and no gyuhi. Hmmm, if I were to talk about satisfaction, I would say about one piece is OK for one person.
